In Sanskrit the seven chakras are known as metaphysical energy centres that we can work with to balance our physical, mental and spiritual health. In this article we will talk about three basic techniques that can be used for chakra healing.
There are three techniques that I prefer to use when working with the chakras. These involve breath-work, focus based meditations, and visualisation techniques. I found the combination of these techniques to be effective starting to work with energy, however some people find one more useful personally than the other two.
Most people don't really think about breathing and do so unconsciously. The aim of chakra balancing its to learn how to breathe consciously and to direct our breathing to certain areas of the body. In Sanskrit, "chi" or energy actually translates to 'breath', and the use of conscious breathing is often underestimated in the process of awakening the chakras.
I believe that placing all your attention on a specific chakra can be an effective way of working with energy and chakra healing. Much like when you place all your attention on your hand, you begin to become more sensitive to the sensation there, placing attention on certain types of energy causes the use centres to open and awaken.
Some people find the learning visualisation is an effective technique for awakening chakras, since it can direct energy your body very easily when you have a clear image in your mind of what you would like to achieve with energy-work. The trick with visualisation is to develop clear and sharp images in your mind, which can can time to practice, but is not too difficult to achieve.
In this article we talked about three techniques for chakra healing. By working with your breathing, being more mindful where you place attention in your body, and practising visualisation, you equip yourself with the right tools for working with the metaphysical energy responsible for governing the chakras.
