Death is coming

The closer death creeps up upon me the less I am able to understand the reasons for life or living.

Yes I have experienced a close family member dying and unlike television it takes decades to handle such a thing. To think I am going to put my family through such a thing when I finally leave is more horrific to me than the thought of death itself.

My life was and is still a learning experience but when all said and done what am I to do with all this accumulated learning over my lifetime if I just die. There is no logic or reason to this.

Long ago I became aware that the God story that is sold to the majority is just a nice story to give mankind with a message of a basic layout of how nice life could be if everyone followed these ideas. Not many in life do and if one thinks about it the good and evil structures actually depend on each other. The good that can be experienced in life is only understood as good when there is it's opposite to compare it to. This is not rocket science only common sense in reality. I am not saying we need to experience bad but understanding in it is needed to appreciate the great things many of us can have in our lives. From birth to death there are many ways mankind helps his fellow man. How many ways can you help?

Life Doesn't Go Downhill After 50's

By Mitch Perril

Lots of folks say that life ends at 50. Or maybe it's 60 nowadays. However, the point is that people think of middle age as the peak of life, with everything after it being downhill. But it turns out people over the age of 50 are really happier than the younger folks.

One survey in particular compared groups of people based on their sense of well-being. The study compared more than 300,000 people in the US and matched them up based on things like whether they were married or not, or whether they had kids or a job. Then it asked them a bunch of other questions. Well, it turns out that state of mind varies by age.

While things like worries tended to remain the same regardless of age, other qualities changes wildly over time. Stress and anger in particular went down over time.

Another emotion, sadness, also went down after age 50, though the patter didn't change a whole lot. In general, though, happiness tended to decline until the age of 50, after which point it seemed to increase.

50 seems to be the remarkable number. But women have it not so well. They say they felt more stress than the men, and they also concern themselves with sadness moreover and then also worries and sadness were experienced in greater numbers. But these also went down after 50.

One of the things that the study really puts a lead pin inside of is the notion that you really have to examine your feelings, whether it is sadness, happiness, worry or stress. Also you might be happier for some reasons.

One thing they thought was that old folks have a better time of controlling their emotions, at least until a certain point. They may better understand their feelings and have more experience with being grown up.

The end result of all this is that people have a better idea of self- satisfaction. Some scientists like to argue. And that's how they enjoy the rest of their short time on earth, rather than hiding behind a thick wall of regret.

Naturally, something needs to be done more to make the study accurate. But life doesn't end at 50.

Psychic Phone Readings and The Mayan Doom Prophesy

By Tana Hoy

Maybe you have a bit of psychic phone reading sessions and have heard about the Mayan predictions. Sure, we'll all have a good chuckle about this 2012 twaddle come January 2013, but first we'll have to brave an entire year of nonstop doom and gloom.

Psychic phone readings won't be enough, really, but we have to know more about it. You're better off going into 2012 prepared. That means knowing the year's top 10 apocalypse threats like the back of your hand and stuffing a survival kit to handle any possible occurrence.

That means going to bed every night and inquiring yourself, "What if the world actually does end tomorrow like Nostradamus sorta-kinda said it would?"

Now go ahead and glide on that gas mask, shove a copy of this article into the survival kit and dive into doom. You know the drill on this one: The ancient Mayans used several intricate calendars to number their days, and their Long Count Calendar's 1,872,000-day Great Cycle will wrap up on Dec. 21, 2012.

Of course, as far as we be on familiar terms with, the Mayans never said anything about the world ending in 2012. If anything, the put up the shutters of the Great Cycle would just be an excuse to hurl a massive party. And the next morning? You guessed it: Time to split unlock a new calendar and get on with your life.

Still, we like to assume the Mayans possessed some astrological insight into Earth's potential. They argue that a world-ending planetary alignment will occur on Dec. 21, 2012, but every astronomer on Earth can tell you this isn't even remotely in the cards.

Whether you have heard it through psychic phone readings, or somewhere else, the best thing is to prepare. Just to be on the safe side, it pays to keep some clean water (at least one gallon or 4.54 liters per person per day) and nonperishable food items on hand in case of emergency, be it the end of the world or just a heavy snowstorm.
