When Will The World End

Far too many prophecies and predictions sync together in regards to when will the world end. It's actually somewhat frightening when investigating the many prophecies and how they so clearly describe the end of the world. It's as if, we're being given a chance to survive this upcoming transformational event. What's interesting....is that we can.

The infamous year 2012 is right around the corner....a date commonly assigned to when the world will end, causing more and more people to become aware of this approaching date. The irony of how a five thousand year calendar, developed by a very intriguing mathematically advanced civilization. The Mayans, who were known for their mysterious abilities in evaluating the of stars and has developed a 5125 year calendar that is set to end on December 21, 2012. A date that the Mayan people predicted, over five thousand years ago, that the world will begin to re-set itself.

There is even an entire book in the Holy Bible (The Book of Revelations) that is entirely devoted to when will the world end prophecies. Many find this book difficult to interpret however, there are segments in it that accurately describe today's times as when the world will end. It's uncanny how it describes how a star will fall to the earth and create a huge mushroom cloud that will darken a third of the world. Are they talking about a nuclear bomb or a meteorite....or better yet, neither were known about back then. What's more, is in how this book describes modern day jets...."they had breastplates like that of iron and the sound of their wings were like many chariots rushing into battle".

The infamous Nostradamus, who become world renowned by his many intriguing predictions that apparently came true generations after his death. You will be absolutely amazed by his predictions of the Winter Solitice, describing a solar event that will transform the Earth and change life as we know it. What makes this particular prediction so interesting is how modern day astronomers support not only the event but, how closely it is predicted to occur around the year 2012.

However, if you study these predictions in further detail, you will discover that they don't necessarily describe the end of the world but, more like the end of the world as we know it. But, there are some promising possibilities in which there could be a chance for survival. It would be very prudent to take the time today to learn about how you may survive the events of tomorrow. Especially, when considering the level of regret later....if you're wrong about not worrying today.

It could be very frightening if you plan to do any real investigating on what is heading our way. The realistic truths regarding government cover-ups, Swine Flu Pandemics, and some devastating natural disasters that are being covered up and kept from the general public. We're not being told everything!!

With there being so much in common with ancient prophecies and how modern day events are beginning to support these predictions, there is a heightened awareness as more people begin to uncover the uncanny truths behind what is being predicted. From the infamous Mayan 5125 year calendar, the Aztec Calendars, The I-Ching prophecies, Hopi Indian teachings down to the trusted Holy Bible, we simply cannot ignore the commonality regarding when will the world end.

With the many predictions pointing to today's times as when these events will begin to occur, there is a heightened concern as more and more people begin to investigate the evidence before us. There are some very frightening books and articles now surfacing that will literally scare you into believing and acting on what is to come. Those with credible investigating and keen insight to what is prophesized offer up a strong emphasis on the need for preparation....for it is believed that there is a possibility for survival.

The Philosophy of Parmenides of Elea

Often referred to as the "father" or "grandfather" of Western Philosophy, Parmenides lived and wrote during the fifth century BCE. His writings large reject the pluralist metaphysics that other pre-socratics proposed before him. We only have remnants of his only known work On Nature; however, the "Proem," a versed introduction to the work, has been completely preserved.

Parmenides' story begins with his journey to the temple, home, or "underworld," where the goddesses Day and Night live. The work is divided into two parts, "The Way of Truth" and "The Way of Appearance." Parmenides chose an apocalyptic style in which to write his story, which requires a lot of consideration in the exposition of his work. No matter the circumstantial, hermeneutical presuppositions, it is clear that Parmenides wishes to critique the metaphysical systems propounded before him.

Truth, to Parmenides, was necessarily eternal and immutable. He lays out a thought experiment. First, two methods of inquiry exist, to seek that which is and that which is not. Something either is or is not. To him, the latter is impossible because to speak of something that is not is unintelligible. Something cannot be known if it does not exist. Therefore, inquiry seeks that which is.

However, Parmenides wanted to contest the emphasis on change and motion in his predecessors, earlier pre-socratic philosophers such as Heraclitus, Pythagoras, and Anaximander. As a result, he thought that change necessitate a change from "to not be" into "to be." By his measure, something cannot comes from nothing. Therefore, true existence necessarily is immutable and eternal.

His argument, as it stands, is certainly valid, but some may hold reservations in its soundness. His theory makes an empirical epistemology practically impossible, as empiricism is fundamentally based in cause and effect, or in other words, change. However, he may only seek to note the fallibility of man in empirical theories as displayed through a long oration on appearance by the goddess.

Although Parmenides is very convincing, many scholars debate the appropriate interpretation of his work. Most see his work as another material monism as put forth by those like Thales and Pythagoras. However, another interpretation sees his work as a large dialectic, juxtaposing truth and appearance, rationalism and empiricism, and theory and practice. This seems to be a better reading because it still allows for Parmenides critique on earlier thinkers and espouses a more skeptical approach to metaphysics, in which eternity and immutability must be considered just as evenly as change and motion.

Some others have suggested Parmenides was introducing a meta-physics, a pure, eternal, immutable substance, from which a changing, moving physical worlds comes (i.e., physics). Sill yet, some suggest modal and perspectival interpretations which are very similar to the "prime mover" meta-physics theory.

In any event, Parmenides opens up new questions to the dialogue of philosophy that proceeded him. Plato, in particular, based his Parmenides on his work, about which he probably learned a great deal from Socrates, who Parmenides supposedly met in Socrates' younger days on a trip to Athens. Likewise, Plato's Republic certainly shares many themes with Parmenides' work, most obviously through Plato's "Allegory of the Cave."
