Death is coming

The closer death creeps up upon me the less I am able to understand the reasons for life or living.

Yes I have experienced a close family member dying and unlike television it takes decades to handle such a thing. To think I am going to put my family through such a thing when I finally leave is more horrific to me than the thought of death itself.

My life was and is still a learning experience but when all said and done what am I to do with all this accumulated learning over my lifetime if I just die. There is no logic or reason to this.

Long ago I became aware that the God story that is sold to the majority is just a nice story to give mankind with a message of a basic layout of how nice life could be if everyone followed these ideas. Not many in life do and if one thinks about it the good and evil structures actually depend on each other. The good that can be experienced in life is only understood as good when there is it's opposite to compare it to. This is not rocket science only common sense in reality. I am not saying we need to experience bad but understanding in it is needed to appreciate the great things many of us can have in our lives. From birth to death there are many ways mankind helps his fellow man. How many ways can you help?

Whenever times get tough, it's tempting to revert to old behaviors and coping skills that do not necessarily do us any favors. Personal development is an ongoing process of learning new ways to cope and bring strength and peace to your life. The following tips can help you get started on your way.

Generalizations are the enemy of your self-improvement and success. Examine your thought processes to see what negative, general beliefs you hold about yourself. If you say in your mind that you "always fail," etc., this is not accurate. Even if it was only one time, you have succeeded in the past! Remind yourself that the future is bright and self-improvement is possible.

In order to improve your personal development performance, look for goals you have been putting off and get to work on them. Ambitious goals and multiple goals are good things - unless you tend to leave some of them unattended. Make a plan that moves you towards your problem goals, at least a little bit every day.

A great self help tip is to not abuse alcohol, especially if you're taking any medications. Alcohol is a depressant and can disrupt the effects of any medications you're taking. If you're taking an antidepressant, drinking alcohol will result in an adverse reaction, leaving you even more depressed.

Exercising regularly is important. Regular exercise not only gets your body healthy and strong but it can also boost your self confidence. People who work out feel a sense of accomplishment afterward and thus tend to be happier afterward. Working out does not mean that you have to work out for hours in the gym. It is as easy as taking a walk.

As you are on your journey to bettering yourself and your life, remember that all things take time to accomplish and that shortcuts are temporary solutions that will not get you to where you want to be. Relish the time you spend making changes to yourself, and soon enough they will be a constant part of who you are. Patiently fulfill your true potential.

To make sure you stick to your goals, develop a plan and write it down. You are more likely to complete goals when they are written down on paper. A checklist is a superb idea, because you can check off your goals as you complete them. Visibly seeing what you have accomplished builds confidence and allows you to tackle tough tasks.

Look at the changes you will need to make on a daily basis and actions you need to take daily in order to reach your goals. Turn those actions into daily habits. Once you get used to doing the same action daily it will make your goals easier to reach over time.

Happiness and peace are a state of mind that everyone would like to inhabit, but coping mechanisms from long ago may not be getting you the state of mind you are seeking. Developing yourself through avenues such as your senses and your intuition allows for a deeper sense of self and the peaceful state of mind you seek.
