What other people think and say about you and what you do can hold you back in life. If you care too much about their opinions.
Often when making difficult decisions, the opinion and judgement of others will get in the way of what your really what to do.
Peoples reactions may often dictate whether or not you decide to make changes in your life.
Holding what people may say about you to high can keep you from moving forward in your life. Therefore one must think about what others may say about them in a healthy way.
In what way can you overcome this issue to find more freedom in your life? It is inevitable that people will always have something to say about the things you do. But there are ways to help you care about what they say yet still do what you want to do.
Holding yourself back in life because of what other people may think or say does, in my experience, to a large part come from a belief that people care a great deal about what you are about to say or do. Perhaps you are afraid that people will laugh or analyze what you said or did for the rest of the week or year.
One way to approach that problem would be to think that other people are too busy to worry about what you are going to do. Yes you may end up feeling unimportant, but you have just opened up a whole new world of freedom for yourself.
It is only natural to think to yourself that you are the most important person in the world, but it would be foolish to think that others think the same of you. In their eyes they or their family are the most important to them.
My mindset for praise - that I try to stick to as much as I can - is that it's cool and I appreciate it. It's great to get praise, but I seldom get overly excited about it and jump and down shouting enthusiastically.
If you think like that about praise then when you receive the opposite of it, then you will be fully prepared for it. You would take it calmly, not overreacting and move on. That way you can appreciate that piece of information too.
Going about things this way can help you to not care too much about what other people think.
If a person is constantly negative about everything or makes personal attacks, which you think are about you, remember that things aren't always about you.
A negative person could just be using it as a way to vent about something in their own life. Or to impose their point of view on others. Or they may just want to get people emotionally involved to create a bigger ball of negativity. All signs are point to the issue being about them. Not something you did.
It can have a calming effect to remember this. And to remember that the other person is still human and might be having a bad day, month, marriage or job.
Sometimes people do have something to say of value. So it would be stupid to just stop care about what they say completely.
