Death is coming

The closer death creeps up upon me the less I am able to understand the reasons for life or living.

Yes I have experienced a close family member dying and unlike television it takes decades to handle such a thing. To think I am going to put my family through such a thing when I finally leave is more horrific to me than the thought of death itself.

My life was and is still a learning experience but when all said and done what am I to do with all this accumulated learning over my lifetime if I just die. There is no logic or reason to this.

Long ago I became aware that the God story that is sold to the majority is just a nice story to give mankind with a message of a basic layout of how nice life could be if everyone followed these ideas. Not many in life do and if one thinks about it the good and evil structures actually depend on each other. The good that can be experienced in life is only understood as good when there is it's opposite to compare it to. This is not rocket science only common sense in reality. I am not saying we need to experience bad but understanding in it is needed to appreciate the great things many of us can have in our lives. From birth to death there are many ways mankind helps his fellow man. How many ways can you help?

Gardens full of beautiful flowers have been a part of our world for thousands of years. But even though flowers don't provide us with any of our basic needs (like food or clothing fibers) we still spend so much time planting and caring for flowers. Why is that?

A study was conducted at Rutgers University in New Jersey and the results of that study offer scientific proof that flowers provide happiness, surely a necessity for our emotional well being. The study was conducted under the direction of Jeannette M. Haviland-Jones, Ph.D., who is a psychologist and internationally known expert in emotional development in human behavior. Regarding the results, Dr. Haviland-Jones said, "The most exciting thing about this study is that it challenges established scientific beliefs about how people can manage their day-to-day moods in a healthy and natural way."

Conducted over 10 months, the study produced proof of the following:

* Flowers immediately affect happiness.
* The impact of flowers is both positive and long-term.
* Flowers are helpful in enabling connections between people.

We live in such a stressful world, but isn't it nice to know that by taking the simple step of buying (or growing your own) flowers, you can quickly improve your own mood or someone else's? And, better yet, the flowers you buy for yourself will make those who see them happy as well. Dr. Haviland-Jones agrees, saying, "Flowers bring about positive emotional feelings in those who enter a room. They make the space more welcoming and create a sharing atmosphere."
