Death is coming

The closer death creeps up upon me the less I am able to understand the reasons for life or living.

Yes I have experienced a close family member dying and unlike television it takes decades to handle such a thing. To think I am going to put my family through such a thing when I finally leave is more horrific to me than the thought of death itself.

My life was and is still a learning experience but when all said and done what am I to do with all this accumulated learning over my lifetime if I just die. There is no logic or reason to this.

Long ago I became aware that the God story that is sold to the majority is just a nice story to give mankind with a message of a basic layout of how nice life could be if everyone followed these ideas. Not many in life do and if one thinks about it the good and evil structures actually depend on each other. The good that can be experienced in life is only understood as good when there is it's opposite to compare it to. This is not rocket science only common sense in reality. I am not saying we need to experience bad but understanding in it is needed to appreciate the great things many of us can have in our lives. From birth to death there are many ways mankind helps his fellow man. How many ways can you help?

Astrology in the Cultural World

By Paul Bailey

Millionaires don't use astrology, billionaires do." That is a quote from John Pierpont Morgan the first American to become declared a billionaire. Astrology has often been in the public consciousness and it is not surprising when you realise how long it has existed.

Astrology has been with humankind since we first looked for the skies and sought meaning and answers within the heavens. You will find cave paintings, anthropological artifacts and fragments that show that the lunar cycle had been seen and mapped out as early as 25,000 many years ago. These were the very first steps towards current astrology as we know it, of course the science has changed - the very earliest astrologers have been making predictions according to what they knew had happened and also the likelihood of similar happenings in th future, for totally practical reasons. Numerous tribes have been nomadic and numerous tribes have been agricultural, so these predictions were significant for many reasons.

As time marched on, astrology began to take on new facets and mankind started out to wonder what would happen inside future and astrologers began to look for ways to answer those people questions. If the cycle of the heavens could predict what was happening right here on Earth, then definitely it could predict what would happen to us as individuals?

The first civilisation that we know used astrology in a similar manner to which we use it today, have been the ancient Babylonians. There are theories that the Sumerian's applied astrology at least a thousand many years previous to Babylonia, but there is no true documentary evidence.

So, from around 2,500 BC astrology has existed inside the form that is certainly recognisable to us. For a extended time it was widely accepted as being a science that went hand in hand with astronomy and it is only pretty recently that it has begun to become seen in as a fringe, esoteric practice. As you'd expect for a thing that has been around for so quite long, astrology has shaped and influenced the world and often in surprising ways.

Did you know for instance, how the word influenza has its roots in astrology? This can be traced back to a time as soon as doctors thought that epidemics have been caused by unfavourable celestial alignments and utilized the word influentia to describe this adverse astral influence. Similarly the word disaster nearly literally means 'Bad Star' in Latin. Words that we use to describe folks or actions just like martial, jovial, lunatic, mercurial are all in accordance with the planets and also the astrological aspects as soon as attributed to them.

It's not merely language either, when Gustav Holst wrote the 'Planets Suite', between 1914 and 1916 he applied astrology instead of astronomy as an influence. He employed the corresponding astrological natures of the planets once writing about them, hence Mars became recognized as the 'Bringer of War', Venus the 'Bringer of Peace' and so on. The structure of this movement after played isn't in an astronomical order, but in an astrological order.

Perhaps the most surprising of cultural icons that has been heavily influenced by astrology is the book and subsequent movie 'Gone from the Wind'. Margaret Mitchell claims to get based her 12 primary characters on a signs with the zodiac, this data is said for getting been observed in her notes and in case you know the story and characters then there is small reason to disbelieve this claim.
