Part 8. All people have an ultimate source of authority, whether consciously or unconsciously, and the authority of the Christian Church is the Bible. There are many churches who will not accept this and they teach an easy and weak Christianity. There are churches who preach a form of Christianity but there is no life or genuine reality - Sunday Christians, as it says in 2 Timothy 3
2nd Tim. three:one to fifteen "But understand this, that in the last days dangerous times will come: For people will be lovers of self ,....lovers of pleasure instead of lovers of God, having a type of religion but denying its power. And from such people, you should steer clear of."
I often tell people I chat to, "Christianity is usually not what we've been told it is; forget the do's & don'ts and the traditions". Christianity is about something new and alive - when an individual lives their life with God as 'the Boss', it transforms them.
Lots of people say "Oh yes I'm a Christian" and as I observe their way of life I wonder upon what evidence they can really say this, as they do not live a thing like what Jesus told us to. Yet they said they're a devotee of Him, or this means that call themselves a Christian.
'A Christian' is one, who is one, and not just someone who tells us they are one. If I was to declare long and loud that I was an American, it means nothing, I am still Australian; yet this is what many do - declaring themselves to be a Christian when they are not at all, they have not done what was required to be one. If you do not agree to, and abide by, the rules of any club, you will not be accepted in. I mean, what is a Christian if we do not follow the Book - Bible, about what they are?
Romans 2:13 For it is not merely knowing what God requires of us that brings God's approval.
Those who obey God's requirements will be declared acceptable by God. You are not a 'Christian' until you actively do something, for instance a commitment or pledge to God that is permanent. Not just going to church on Sundays.
