Death is coming

The closer death creeps up upon me the less I am able to understand the reasons for life or living.

Yes I have experienced a close family member dying and unlike television it takes decades to handle such a thing. To think I am going to put my family through such a thing when I finally leave is more horrific to me than the thought of death itself.

My life was and is still a learning experience but when all said and done what am I to do with all this accumulated learning over my lifetime if I just die. There is no logic or reason to this.

Long ago I became aware that the God story that is sold to the majority is just a nice story to give mankind with a message of a basic layout of how nice life could be if everyone followed these ideas. Not many in life do and if one thinks about it the good and evil structures actually depend on each other. The good that can be experienced in life is only understood as good when there is it's opposite to compare it to. This is not rocket science only common sense in reality. I am not saying we need to experience bad but understanding in it is needed to appreciate the great things many of us can have in our lives. From birth to death there are many ways mankind helps his fellow man. How many ways can you help?

Suggested Methods In Dealing With Malicious Jokes

By June D. Hawk

Most of us have been in a situation where we ended up being the focus of someone's joke. When this happens, are you uncomfortable or hurt? Do you run away and never show your face again? Of course not! There are better ways of handling an embarrassing situation and here are some of them:

Ignore the joke. Yes folks, one of the best ways to counteract an annoying person who keeps making fun of you is to ignore him or her. For sure, people like this have issues and are most likely insecure pricks craving for attention. Do yourself a favor and don't give them what they want - attention. Pretty soon they will get tired and start picking on someone else.

Joke back. Witty people have a way of deflecting negative attention back to their attackers. If you are one of those people with this gift, use it to your advantage.

Witty comebacks can be amusing especially when it is the supposed 'underdog' delivering it. It also has the effect of making the bully think twice about dishing another round of attacks because they might end up becoming the joke when you deliver, yet again, a stylish comeback he or she cannot compete with.

Accept it. When you are an extremely confident person, anything anyone else says is just a breeze that will not ruffle any of your feathers. Smile, be confident. You can even laugh at yourself. Who cares what anyone thinks, right? In your world, it's only your opinion that counts.

Look behind the joke. Perhaps understanding the reason the joke was made in the first place can give you insight to your opponent's feelings. Perhaps in a previous incident you hurt him or her unintentionally and the person is taking it out on you through a joke. In private, ask the person if there is anything wrong. You might be surprised by the answer.

One way or another, defending yourself from jokes is a social skill you will have to master eventually. It's better to know how to handle a situation before it comes than be caught off guard when you the spotlight is finally turned on you, right?
