Death is coming

The closer death creeps up upon me the less I am able to understand the reasons for life or living.

Yes I have experienced a close family member dying and unlike television it takes decades to handle such a thing. To think I am going to put my family through such a thing when I finally leave is more horrific to me than the thought of death itself.

My life was and is still a learning experience but when all said and done what am I to do with all this accumulated learning over my lifetime if I just die. There is no logic or reason to this.

Long ago I became aware that the God story that is sold to the majority is just a nice story to give mankind with a message of a basic layout of how nice life could be if everyone followed these ideas. Not many in life do and if one thinks about it the good and evil structures actually depend on each other. The good that can be experienced in life is only understood as good when there is it's opposite to compare it to. This is not rocket science only common sense in reality. I am not saying we need to experience bad but understanding in it is needed to appreciate the great things many of us can have in our lives. From birth to death there are many ways mankind helps his fellow man. How many ways can you help?

Historic Use Of Mushrooms In Spiritual Ceremonies

By Dr. Markho Rafael

Since at least 5,000 B.C., people have used "spiritual mushrooms" in their religious rituals. The San Peoples of Tassili in southeast Algeria left behind cave paintings illustrating dancing, masked medicine men with mushrooms in their hands. It's believed the mushrooms were of the consciousness-altering variety.

Tassili is today part of the Saharan desert, mountainous and uninhabited. But in the days of the San Peoples, the environment was savannah-like and inhabited by cattle, lions and even crocodiles. There's archeological evidence of contact between the San Peoples of Tassili and other tribes across the Sahara, from Chad to Egypt, perhaps even Greece.

The Greek Eleusinian Mysteries - spiritual initiation ceremonies - date back to 1,600 B.C. and for two millennia it was the most important spiritual initiation ceremony of ancient Europe. Many scholars believe the ceremony employed the use of mind-altering mushrooms. With participants such as Plato and Aristotle, the influence of the Eleusinian Mysteries on the formation of western culture cannot be underestimated.

Later Vikings are known to have consumed limited amounts of the today much feared poisonous species Fly agaric (Amanita muscaria). Ironically, they appear to have used it to overcome fear through religious rituals in which they danced and ate mushrooms before fearlessly going into battle.

Of course many of us may not think highly of the Viking warrior spirituality but it was an undeniable part of their religious practices whether or not we approve. At the same time, across the Baltic Sea, Siberian shamans also used Fly agaric to achieve spiritual communion with their gods.

Fly agaric is even put forth as the source of "soma," a juice described in ancient Vedic texts as bestowing divine qualities on the consumer, including immortality. Convincing arguments linking Fly agaric to Soma are presented by R. Gordon Wasser in his book Soma: Divine Mushroom of Immortality. His theory, although not proven, hasnt been disproven either.

(Important note: Fly agaric - Amanita muscaria - is poisonous and may also be easily confused with other even more deadly species. Consumption for any reason is vehemently discouraged.)

Meanwhile in the New World, spiritual ceremonies using mind-expanding mushrooms were likewise performed. The earliest written record stems from between the 13th and 15th centuries, a text known as the Mixtec Codex. The Mixtec Gods were often engraved wielding mushrooms.

Although Mixtecs themselves told white anthropologists they used spiritual mushrooms in their religious rituals, western scientists still doubted them in characteristic condescending manner.

William Safford, an American botanist, believed the supposed mushrooms were actually nothing but peyote buttons. Other western scholars, meanwhile, insisted that the "spiritual mushrooms" of the Mixtec people really were mind-altering mushrooms.

The debate raged on until the early 1930s, when amateur anthropologist Robert Weitlaner got invited to witness an original spiritual ceremony that included the use of consciousness-altering mushrooms.

Then in 1953, mycologist R. Gordon Wasson and his wife Valentina Povlovna as the first westerners became honored participants in a mushroom ceremony - Velada - performed by shaman Don Aurelio. Wasson published his account of the Velada in Life Magazine, 1957. His article initiated the broader public awareness of spiritual mushrooms.

Although the (in-)famous genus of mind-altering mushrooms, Psilocybe, contains 60 species, most do not contain the psychoactive compounds psilocin (fresh mushrooms) and psilocybin (fresh and dried). The Mixtecs are believed to originally have used Psilocybin mexicana and Psilocybin caerulescens. The today more common Psilocybin cubensis is believed to have arrived from Europe.

Spiritual mushrooms have been illegal in most of the world since the 1970's because of their potential misuse as recreational drugs. Only in The Netherlands were fresh Psilocybe allowed to be sold until less than a year ago.

That all changed after a French 17-year-old girl jumped off a bridge when eating Psilocybe mushrooms. The Dutch parliament responded with a ban on the sale of so called "magic mushrooms," which took effect December 1, 2008. From Tassili to Amsterdam, the use of spiritual mushrooms is now officially history.

Tips On How You Can Pull Through After A Break Up

By Mandy Roberts

Recovering from an unexpected break up can be very hard to do, especially if you were the one that was dumped. Sadly, this is something that most everyone experiences in life at one time or another.

Don't forget that sooner or later you will move on and get over the breakup. You are the only one that can decide how long that will take and how hard it will be. One thing that you can do to make it easier is to try and avoid being with the friends of your ex.

There are some people that will say the best think to do is to get rid of everything that reminds you of your ex. I don't think that's a good idea, because you can risk thinking about that person even more as you try and not think about them.

Try and take it slow and easy for a while, and don't be too hard on yourself over the breakup. Don't obsess with focusing on stuff that reminds you of them, but don't try and avoid everything either.

If you are getting tired of people treating you differently, you have to stop sulking in front of them. Cry when you are alone, but try and become part of life again with your friends and go out.

The key thing to remember and cling to is that over time, things will get better. You will move on to a different stage in life, and will find the right person at the right time.

The thing that helped me was I reminded myself that I wasn't the only one to experience a breakup, and many do daily. It happens to anyone and almost everyone, and even though it stinks, people do move on and live life once again, and so will you.

The Pain Of Losing A Pet

By Erin Walker

I remember the day I found out my dog died. The beautiful Irish Setter I had owned since I was thirteen no longer came to greet me when I came home. I had been out of State and had asked a dog sitter to watch Rusty. When I got back there was no explanation, no apology, just the cold, hard fact that Rusty was gone.

Few people understand the pain of losing a dog. Some people find it childish to find a grown adult mourning the loss of their faithful companion. These critics have probably never had a dog, that, or else they are just cat lovers.

Anyone who's ever had a dog knows how much joy they can bring. Sure they occasionally don't relieve themselves in the right place, or scare your guest, but they're worth it. From the moment they cuddle up in your arms as you bring them home, a special bond is formed between dog and master.

I sometimes wonder about my dog. Did he die because the sitter was careless and fed him a chicken bone? Maybe she hit Rusty. Maybe it was because he missed me too much. Maybe, the sitter let Rusty escape and he got run over. Maybe she forgot to lock the door and someone tried to break in, and Rusty attacked the burglar and got killed in the process. I don't know. I never will.

Life is uncertain. That much I've learned. While there are many things in life that can't be controlled, you should take advantage of the ones that you can control. Things like life insurance, health insurance, and home security systems, while at the time may seem like an inconvenience, can prevent grief. If I'd had a home security system, who knows, maybe Rusty would still be here today.

The Greatness Of Poetry And How Different Poems Can Help You Handle The Death Of A Loved One

By Jeannie Rawlings

A demise of a loved one is always a great challenge. You were together for months, years, even decades just chatting and relaxing, having a good time. When the appointed time comes, tears flow. It is difficult, and trying.

It is only that life must go on. No matter how difficult this thing may be, life must continue. The reason is because life must go on, it cannot be stopped. It just continues.

Poetry might not realize any miracles, but it does wonders in calming a person. Whether it is the written type or the one you read, the idea that you will retain the memories of your loved one is good, even though you will have to battle with the same memories.

Writing odes of grief is a wonderful way of expressing your feelings. It is almost like keeping a diary, only that poetry enables you to express yourself in far greater ways; because more writing styles are at your disposal without sounding out of character. One can employ alliteration and rhymes.

The poem should not be necessarily a sad one, it can be of remembrance. The poem can even be of one of the numerous happy times you enjoyed together. It could be about the beautiful qualities a person had; their character and how you loved them.

The importance of writing these poems is just to express yourself. It is about writing your thoughts and feelings of what had transpired.

The best thing about remembrance poems, however, is that you can be able to go back to the poem whenever you feel like recollecting the person's love and it helps you to reconnect and even be comforted again.

If you are not the type who writes poetry, there are always some good sympathy poems which will do just as well to comfort you during the days of grief. Do You Know What Mind Over Matter Means?

By Kerry Blanks

The ability of the human mind to influence matter is what is meant by the phrase 'mind over matter'. We have heard this phrase repeated several times perhaps by our parents and teachers while they motivated us to reach greater heights with studies and during examinations against all hindrances. But on a more serious note, the power of the mind is so strong that it can influence ay matter that it so desires, be it tangible or intangible.

Psychokinesis is a term which is very closely associated with the phrase 'mind over matter'. Infact this phrase can be said to be the word meaning for the term in its extreme. Thus, if you can move a chair or a table by the sheer power of your thoughts or mind, then you can be termed a psychokinetic.

First coined as Telekinesis during the 19th century, this paranormal phenomenon was researched and experimented upon by parapsychologists in order to explain the extent of the power of mind over matter. The term was first denoted to explain the mysterious movement of objects by spirits or ghosts. Later on when the role of human mind was speculated to be behind these, the term psychokinesis was born.

This extreme form of mind over matter can be measured in two different ways. Firstly, the micro psychokinesis refers to minute atomic changes in matter that only a microscope or any such scientific instrument can pick up. Secondly, Macro psychokinesis involves the movement of large matter visible in the normal sense of sight.

Apart from this extreme paranormal aspect to the phrase 'mind over matter', it is also extensively used in a highly mind-centric interpretation in the fields of spirituality or philosophy. This can be corroborated by the significance it has in responsibility assumption.

According to the responsibility assumption, the sole responsibility of your future and what you make of your life lies on you. It prophesizes the concept that your future is a product of your thoughts and the onus or responsibility of your destiny or fate is only on you. Recent spiritual awakening in the last decade also has laws such as Laws of Attraction, etc talking in the same direction.

The Laws of attraction states that if you have an object of desire which you want to see manifested in your life, then direct your entire attention, energy and focus on it and feel the energy waves leaving you and charging up the vision. If you have complete faith that it will happen, and rid your mind of all negative thoughts in order to receive the event when it manifests actually, you will see that you can create your own destiny with your mind power.

Thus it can be concluded that be it physical matter or be it an intangible matter, your mind has the power to influence all. Thus, with the power of positive thinking, concentration, energy, and affirmations one can achieve the highest forms of 'mind over matter' phenomenon and thereby live life in his own terms.

Things To Consider About A Free Clairvoyant Reading

By Stuart Reiss

What does the future hold? What fortunes are coming, or not coming, in the days ahead? Have you ever wondered about these sorts of things? Perhaps you should look into getting a free clairvoyant reading.

Clairvoyants are people who claim to have the power to see into the future and to see into the truth of the universe. Generally, they charge fees for their services. The assumption being that most people are willing to pay to see what the future holds for them. Occasionally they will offer their services for free in order to try to prove how on the ball they may be.

Unfortunately, as with all professions, you do have a few people that are not on the level. Some people will give out ambiguous statements and vague readings in order to try to luck into getting a few correct answers about you. Then they will give strange, but positive, comments about your future so you will want to come back and hear more about the great things that fate has in store for you. This is to try to convince people, at least optimistic people, that the person is truly gifted with the power.

You shouldn't assume that everyone is trying to trick you, though. Of almost all the people that sell their services, most at least believe that they're on the level. They are trying to provide a service that some people need, and they do so in good faith. If you are a consumer, you will need to learn the difference between the pros and the tricksters, but after a reading or two you will probably be able to spot it right off.

Going to get a reading is something that everyone should experience. Even if it does not turn out the way you had hoped, the experience can be fun and exciting. Catching a glimpse into the world of psychic can be mysterious and exhilarating.

One reason to go and seek out a free reading is to find out if perhaps you've some latent powers. Many people are in possession of psychic abilities, and perhaps not even aware of it. It is usually only when someone else who has been trained and been working in the field for a while senses the power that they find out that they have it.

Having a gift is a fantastic thing that you should be very happy to discover about yourself. It will make you feel quite special and unique. Chances are if you do possess the gift you probably already felt a little out of place in the normal world as it is.

If you have time, try and get a free clairvoyant reading soon. You will be happy that you did. For whatever you are doing and wherever you are in life, chances are you still have some unease about the future. Every little thing you can do to get better acquainted with your personal future is a step in the right direction.

What You Need To Know About Handling A Funeral

By Erin Walker

The sight of a family member or best friend in a casket is one of the hardest things to face in life. Losing someone we love one is something we all must face sooner or later, but is something we still dread. Then there is the whole drawn-out and painful funeral process. Understanding the process won't fill the emptiness or lift the pain, but it will help the funeral run smoothly.

The first thing the funeral home will do is check to see if you are already in their records. If you are, then some of the paperwork will already be completed, if not, you will need to fill that out. Once the paper work is done, the preparations for the funeral itself begin. Details such as the type of casket, number of pallbearers, type of service, and so on, will be discussed.

During this time of grief it is important to remember your safety. Families preparing for a funeral are more likely to be the victims of a burglary. Burglars will often browse the obituaries in the newspaper. They read the time and place of the funeral service and then plan to rob the immediate family while they are away at the funeral. The only trouble is, the addresses of the family are not provided in the newspaper. In order to find the address of the family members, burglars will usually go through the funeral home to try and glean this information.

Most funeral homes are very good about not giving out the home addresses to people that call in asking about funeral services. However, burglars often turn out to be friends of the family and will know the address. Even distant friends or acquaintances can find addresses through Facebook, church directories, or other means.

The best way to ensure your home is protected while you're at the funeral is to have a home security system. A security system will allow you to attend the funeral knowing your home is safe. Funerals are a sacred time to remember the lives of those gone before us. Don't let a house distract your from remembering your loved one.
